Hello everyone,

I am new on this forum. I am facing a problem that drives me crazy, and I think I reached sketchup's limit... Please I need your help to prove me that I am wrong!
So, I am trying to create a surface that consists of 2 hyperebolics shapes cvonnected by a hyperbolic paraboloid shape I guess.
You will find attached the shape I made with the Soap Bubble plugin. I Just selected the curves I draw to generate a soap skin.
The problem I have is that i am trying to generate straight profiles for this shape. What I am trying to get is the structure elements that should include only straight elements and not curved as I did.
You will find attached an image of a basic hyperbolic structure shape that I am trying to get.
I tried several times to make it happen by trying with Curviloft pluggin as well but nothing worked...
Please I really need help !

Thank you
Here is the shape I am trying to have with the right profiles

I thought this would be interesting to try. I was able to create something like the example. You have to twist a SU cylinder without faces and mirror it. But to get faces on it, I had to add the horizontal lines you see. It can be done systemically drawing circles of the same number of sizes.

How this could translate to the free form shapes you have I don't know. My non-mathematical intuition tells me that the curves are not random. That is you can't make this happen with every curve. And the circular solution might be unique.

P.S. So I don't think you are doing something "wrong". This should be difficult, especially within the confines of SketchUp.

Thank you very much for your answer. Yes that's what I thought I should do.
However, I thought that maybe a plugin could help me to avoid manual drawing as I am trying to get more than version of this shape... Also I think the main issue here is to connect the 2 cones with one shape based on a curve that joins them... My non-mathematical intuition also, tells me that it should be paraboloid hyperbolic or something like that.
Thank you again for your help.
Anyone else could help me on that ?
Thanks
