Dynamic components animated in scens

I am wanting to illustrate a flood or water rising in an animation video export. I have a dynamic component set up with the water level/ plane rising but cannot figure out if it is possible to show this rise between the changes of a scene, the ideal would be to have it rise the total distance over say 3 or 4 different scenes. If this at all possible.
