SketchUpToMax Import/Export based on OD_CopyPasteExternal?
-
Last year Oliver Hotz published an open source script called OD_CopyPasteExternal that lets you copy/paste 3D geometry between different 3D apps. There is a basic version for importing 3DSmax geometry into Skp, but it looks like it's no longer developed. No activity since the initial release.

UVs and maybe materials, layers, instances - not sure if the last three are possible, it looks like this approach is only about raw geometry data). I think it would be great to be able to model in Sketchup and copy single parts into Max instead of always having to import the whole file.
(Maybe it would be even possible to build a Skp to Max link (incl. instances?) based on this copy code... just dreaming...
And i don't know if it is possible to use open source code in a commercial plugin, but i would gladly pay for an easy solution for bringing Skp geometry into Max (and vice versa), like GoZ for ZBrush for instance or even a live sync like for Lumion https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bMpCNINIuec )
