A Traditional Workbench
-

This is from the model I made of Chris Gochnour's traditional workbench which is featured in the current Tools and Shops issue of Fine Woodworking Magazine. You can see a photo of it at this link: http://www.finewoodworking.com/2017/10/25/how-to-build-a-heavy-duty-workbench I used the model to create two sets of plans for building it.These are the vises used on the bench.

Looks like your "Sketchy Shadow Experiments" were successful.
Otherwise a clean and clear presentation!

Love it.

Great stuff

Very nicely done Dave!
Can we please see a wireframe of the vise(s)

Thanks all.
Charlie, will this do?

I simplified the vise on the right by deleting some of the details in the castings that wouldn't show. The front plate is just a shell because the rest of it wouldn't show anyway.

Yes that will do..........very detailed from my perspective, I am always amazed how you and others model these shapes in SU. (Specifically the cast parts in this case)
Great stuff....thanks for sharing.

Thanks Charlie. I'm glad I don't have to do a lot of the kind of modeling I did on that front plate. There are over 262,000 edges in just the front plate component. Ugh!

And I almost used the word “dense” in place of “detailed”........in my above reply......LOL

Well dense would be appropriate. It's more edges than I would have chosen to use but from the file I started with, it would have been a whole lot of work to do more cleaning than I did and I decided it wasn't worth the time to reduce the entity count.
