Referencing a file on Dropbox as opposed to a local version
-
Beginning to use LayOut more with colleagues. We are using Dropbox to share most current files. Very often we take files down from Dropbox to private folders to work on them
Question:
If I reference a SketchUp file in a LayOut file to be shared to work on, it should probably be referenced to a file that is in Dropbox (which we share). Right?
If it's referenced to a file on my own computer--I suppose that would make it OK for a colleague at another site to view and print from, but no good if they need to update a reference. -
Great and relevant question mate!!! Have you tried the link to dropbox to see if indeed it works?

I've been working on various files, components saved to file to model then to reload, and various LayOut files in Dropbox.
Needless to say with multiple people using files, and downloading versions to work on each computer, it's getting crazy just to think about it and for sanity it seems I need to work all on Dropbox versions (while saving copies everywhere else). So far that works, but I haven't had anyone else try to use these files and test their linkages at other sites.
