I have upgraded and recently gone back to some files that I created in SKP 14 months ago.
They freeze just after opening with the spinning beach ball and I have to force quit

I'm using this commercially after convincing my practice to go with sketchup for design work !

    Yosomite 10.10.3
    Sketchup 15.3.329

Can you post one of the v14 models that misbehaving...

do you or did you use vray at the time you created them?

or any other renderer that adds material definitions?

I can't really post it as it has a large 3D Zmap that we have purchased and sensitive client proposals.

I didn't use Vray when making the V14 models but I have started using the "visualiser" plug in ?

        and various other modelling plugs

I click the file, the file opens I can see the model but it just hangs in spinning beach ball mode, I have to force quit to be able to even flick to other programs

Visualizer doesn't add to the model definition so shouldn't be contributing to the slow start...
Can you open it in v14 still?
if so, I would do that and check the model attributes using Enroths plugin, purge any unused items etc...
Once checked, I would open v15 with a blank model, close all inspector windows, choose a fast modelling style without Shadows, set the view to use Perspective, Top View and then Import the v14 model...

          does it come in OK?

Thanks John, seems inevtable I'll have to install 14 and have two copies, what a pain with all my plugins and settings....

I checked someone else's file last night and found 30mb of unused components/materials and vray definitions...
they were not using vray, so they must have been added by a imported component or shared template...

It was unworkable before I remove all of the offending items...

it is really worth checking with 'Attribute Editor'

If the model was fine in 14 I can't see the problem apart from something in the code or OS X
                maybe even the hardware ??
