Sketchup Scenes Directly To Layout

I never copy paste viewports between pages ashcott.
If you duplicate a page, the new page is created instantly. Then you just press the viewport and choose the scene you want. It takes almost as long as the render...
The only drawback is when pages have too much extra info in them already, like dimensions or leaders and you have the extra step of erasing that...
This workflow is perfect for floor plans and sections with same orientation/size...

I don't know if there's any way a page would automatically be created in LO and then associate/ place a scene on each page. However if you set it up once as a template, and keep the scene names the same you may be able to relink to a new sketchup file and its scenes.

Good points. I feel like I do a lot of "manual" work in layout that would be saved if there were some way of controlling this kind of thing.
Is there anyway to add functionality to Layout (like Ruby plugins in SU)?

Yeah it would be so cool - they dont even need to be very complex - you could automate a lot

Perhaps I've misunderstood something here - but what you're asking for is possible already...
To make it work, you just need to name the scenes in your SU model the same each time you make a new model...
In LO, you just create a template with several pages and insert the SU scenes on the pages...
Whenever you have a new model, you only need to relink to the new SU model in LO...In example...
Create a SU model with i.e. 5 scenes... Name the scenes "Scene 1", "Scene 2".... to "Scene 5"...
In LayOut you create a template, where you insert the scenes on different pages...Now... Whenever you create a new model in SU you just make the same scene naming and when you open the LO template, you relink to the new SU file...

Its extraordinary how much these little tricks can speed you up when you're processing file after file into working drawings.

I thought I said that, though perhaps too brief in my description. I use this method. For my purposes I often have to resize the ports, but it saves time.

Still, If you're doing a series of drawings of your model and you want them to match in size and paper position it's easier to duplicate page and change what scene the new page's viewport is displaying.
I do all my plan section views like that and it's way easier than having to resize viewports to match each other...

This is what I do also. Duplicate and erase what's not needed.
