Hello everyone, I'm working on setting up my new workstation to use my SpaceNavigator 3D mouse and Razer Naga mouse in conjunction. Ideally, I'd like to have the two buttons on my 3D mouse control modifier keys (I have them set to Shift and Control right now), and use the numerous buttons on the mouse to handle the commands I've typically used the keyboard for. However, I've hit a snag...

      Here's what I'm shooting for:

Press mouse button "1" triggers a command.
Hold left button on the 3D mouse and press button "1" triggers another command.
Hold right button on the 3D mouse and press button "1" triggers a third command.

Ideally, in this scenario, I'd be able to get 3 commands out of the same button just by pressing a different modifier with my left hand. However, it seems Sketchup will not cooperate. It registers that the 3D mouse is "pressing" the shift key, however it can't be used as a modifier for commands, just as a modifier for whatever tool is activated. As such, I can't get the triple-functionality out of the mouse in my right hand like I'd like.

There is a workaround, as the Razer has up to 8 customizable key layouts that you can switch between. However, the ergonomics of making this work mean that it would all be with my right hand, and I wouldn't be using the buttons on the 3D mouse as the modifiers. I'd prefer to split the duty between two hands and keep the left hand as modifiers-only and the right hand as commands-only.

I've tried to set buttons on the mouse as a modifier to switch between key layouts and then set the 3D mouse buttons to activate those same mouse buttons, but it seems that any button I specify Sketchup thinks I'm pressing down the scroll wheel on the mouse, lending me no additional functionality.

Definitely a bit stumped...wondering if anyone else has tried this and succeeded or has any insights.

      Thanks in advance!

      Joe
