Drawing Indents on Curved Surface of waterbottle
-
Hi everyone,
I've been trying to model a water bottle, but I cannot seem to create the grooves in the bottle. I've attached images of the bottle and the model I've made so far. Does anyone know how I can make the grooves on the curved surface of the bottle?
Thanks a bunch ^^

There was a thread a long time ago on an onion dome but I can't find it (searching on Onion dome. I don't think starting with the smooth surface is going to help except as guide. As for the lower grooves, I have to say IMO you have not followed the shape and need to observe the profile more closely.

There are plenty of ways to do this.
This one just crossed my mind first. Draw a polyline with Bezier curves. Draw a tube on that polyline with Pipe along a path. Scale down some of the sections and create a surface between them with Curviloft. The use round corner at the ends. Then play with the scale tool or FFD to achieve the desired result. As for the other indents, just create some shapes that resembles them and intersect them with the body of the bottle.
