Maybe "plugins" not the right place for this but here it is.
Occasionally I go crazy trying to import cad files from suppliers. In this case,it was an AC Servo motor from Parker. So,D/L dxf files for same - oh darn - 2D - not what I want. Also available as .sat files. Google my little heart out and found this page -

As it says - free draftsight is required. I'm using SU6 for dwg/dxf so had to save in ACAD format version 14? in draftsight.

It works - but strange scaling - 44196mm(imported flange width)/145mm(actual flange width) = 304.8 (inverse= 0.00328 ) Ok - in new drawing - trusty tape tool used to resize motor flange using 145mm from dimn sheets. Check various other dimns from available Parker pdf dimension sheets- all is well with the world. This particular file was ~2.5mb so it took a few minutes - but acceptable.

      Hope this helps others.

Gah! I thought I was onto a winner when I read this post, but alas it wasn't to be. I've been supplied with hundreds of .sat files that would help me out enormously if I could get them into SU. I need two of them for the project I'm working on today, but as I didn't create the .sat files I can't control the settings of them, and I assume that is what is preventing me from importing them into Draftsight.

I don't suppose there are any other suggestions are there?

I'm not 100% sure, but I think MoI can import these prototyping formats. Then, you can export skp files directly from MoI. I'll PM Pilou, he knows for sure.
          Cheers!

            Of course yes πŸ˜‰

Curves and surfaces can be saved to 3DM, IGES, STEP, and SAT formats. A hidden line drawing can be saved to the PDF, AI, or DXF formats for printing or transfer to 2D illustration or 2D CAD programs. Polygon mesh data can be saved to OBJ, STL, 3DS, LWO, FBX, and SKP formats.

MoI supports reading in curve and surface data from 3DM, IGES, STEP, and SAT files. 2D curves can be opened from PDF and AI files, and curves and drafting entities like lines, circles, and arcs can be opened from DXF files.

Moi can import Sat then export in SKP file! πŸ˜„
Just a detail: if you have not a "single object" but numerous objects named inside Moi prefer the 3DS format against SKP format for Sketchup!
In Sketchup Explode one time the result!
Like this you can have many components named object 01, object 02 inside Sketchup!

And use the Comparaison components by Thomthom for reconstruct similar components as "Instances" if you have starting stricly identic compoenents!
(because Moi has not yet instances ! ) πŸ€“

And you have now the inverse!
You can import OBJ file then subdivide it in Moi! πŸ˜‰
