I am trying to create a model that, at its simplest, is two fixed-length beams. One beam is anchored at a point such as the origin, and it can pivot in a plane at the point. The other beam is attached to the end of the first, and it too can pivot in the plane. I want to be able to move the unattached end of the second beam and have the entire assembly move appropriately. I am unsure if Sketchup is the tool to use or if there is a better tool for this type of model. What other tools should I be considering? If this can be done in Sketchup, I would appreciate any insights as to how to do it.

      Example Beams

Maybe http://solvespace.com/download.pl can be of any help to construct this.

Are we talking about actual fixed length component beams or just simple edges?

If it is just two edges as depicted in your post, I think I can help you.

Nothing is worthless, it can always be used as a bad example.

Thanks! I am looking at its documentation and tutorials. It seems to be just what I am looking for, but the proof will come when I actually try to use it. thanks again.

Thanks for your response. I am looking at SolveSpace, which may be just the tool I'm looking for.
If it doesn't work, I will contact you and see if you can hemp me. Thanks again.
