Blocky Look
-
**Hi everybody :
Question : When drawing shapes, how do I avoid making them look "blocky". When rendered, the surfaces don't look smooth. I tried setting the number of sides for a circle, but I couldn't get it "set". garystan** -
Maybe there are settings for increasing the subdivision in your Renderer.

There are a couple issues. If you have a shape that is supposed to have a curved surface, sometimes you can have the smooth/softness settings wrong. With a sample copy of your shape; Turn on Hidden geometry and select the curved surface edges and faces, unhide selected. Then use the soften smooth dialog to soften the edges.
Also: Yes, sometimes the modification of circle and arc segments is finicky YMMV. I often try a different number, say go from 12 segments to 6 THEN try 24. However sometimes because of its connections in the model, the circle or arc can no longer be modified in this way--the dialog will be grayed.
Then there's the renderer subdivision settings (which I never tried).

Here's an example of the subdivision setting (Indigo Renderer)...
