I am trying to find a good easy to us rendering program that will work on ONE of my Macs. I am in the process of trying Twilight, and I've seen tutorials online....it's very easy to use and I am ready to render....here's where I run into problems. In the tutorial, the teacher is doing preliminary renders to look at finishes, lighting etc. and the render takes less than 3 seconds to see (this is in Easy preset). When I do the easiest level, it takes my scene (in interior room) 20-30 minutes just to see the simple low resolution. I dont' have that kind of time. Does anyone have any suggestions? My file size is 44.1 mg

      My MAC specs:
      imac
Processor: 2.8 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
      Memory: 6 GB 667 Mhz DDR2 Sdram
Graphics: ATI Radeon HD 2600 Pro 256 MG
      Mac OSX lion 10.7.4

Anyone have any ideas? or is Twilight meant to run on a PC?

Have you tried Kerkythea? That is supposed to be the same engine. Maybe you can compare results but there are quick presets that give a pretty good idea on a setup like that (like I used to have). I guess I am saying there should be quick preview renders in TL too. Note though that an upgrade to 8 core mac will do wonders. Make sure it is using both or your cores anyway--you may have to set that.

Having had a MBP of similar specs (not same graphics card)--these are NOT the best rendering machines, but might get you by for now.

Compare with smaller files or with demo files provided (?). You may have lights and textures that are slowing it down, compared to the demo video model.

this is so much time for a low quality render, that takes 2 or 3 minutes in kerkythea. You might try KT so you can compare and see if it's your computer settings or the software.

Also be aware that many raytracing tutorials use 'time-lapse / fast-forward' to avoid long delays in the video - are you sure it was really 3 seconds of elapsed time?

              Clem,
I would direct your problem to the Twilight forum or their support.
Rendering time can change dramatically due to lights, materials & model complexity.
              Good luck!
