Get current view vs. Get location
-
I would like to open a *.kmz file with a old map of 1870 in Sketchup. It was possible to open old map in Google Earth and then in Sketchup use the tool "Get current view". This tool was replaced by the tool "Get location", but this tool upload only an up-to-date map which is available in Google Maps. This map is unusable for me. How I get the old map to Sketchup?

Import the old map as a material and paint it on the terrain.

Will be preserved coordinate system and location?

You would need to scale it to a known measurement and orient it to north etc.I would make a copy of the Map and the terrain on new layers and then repaint the new texture.

You can unlock and hide the Google Map grab. Then create your own map in it's place and the model will retain the geolocation.
