water is a KT material
Sorry if I missed something. You said that you used a texture. Not material though.
I know that there's water material in KT, because I've been using KT too since 2-3 years ago. Even if it's not quite often -
ok,sorry!!
My mistake
The texture is in the model of Sketchup 3D warehouse.
I used to kerkythea water material -

Looks good.
Off topic a bit... a Royal Navy ship shouldn't fly the 'Union Flag' as a 'jack'... unless it's also flying signals from the mast, or its moored in port, or there's a court marshal taking place on board, or there's a member of the royal-family on board... Otherwise it should fly just the white-ensign [as the stern]...
So what's up with the original photo's bow-flagwhat the original photo ?
I think TIG thinks that the first (grey scale) image is a photo you used to work your model. If I am not mistaken, it is also a render - just turned grey scale, right?
Now anyway, his concern about the flag on the bow: that's the "Union Jack) (union of the English, Scottish and Irish flags) which is not used on war ships (except some cases he listed). The war flag is what you used on the stern (correctly).

yes,it is also a render

OK...
As I said before - a Royal Navy ship shouldn't fly the 'Union Flag' as a 'jack'... unless it's also flying signals from the mast, or its moored in port, or there's a court marshal taking place on board, or there's a member of the royal-family on board...
Otherwise it should fly just the white-ensign [as the stern]...In the UK we have some very weird 'flag rules'...

The bow wave should rise up drop down and finally drop to a neutral water level. Then a wave should spread out in an inverted V. One example http://slamdunk4152.files.wordpress.com/2011/09/akatsuki.jpg

Wow... She's beautiful.

That looks great.
Where did you get your reference pics? I need some blueprints for a ship I am working on currently.
Its also a light cruiser, a town class -HMS Liverpool: http://www.behance.net/gallery/HMS-LIVERPOOL-(C11/6764053
Luckily it sister ship HMS Belfast has a ton of source material. However would kill for some blueprints.
Is the water just a texture or does it have some geometry?
Water is only texture

The new version of the model. I added the underwater part of the ship. I fixed rails, and improved some of the other elements of the model.
Some simple renders, made ββfor presentation purposes
The model can be downloaded here:
