Rendering Software
-
I was wondering what other software out there that people are using that is like lumion4 pro? I've been playing with lumion4 pro, trial and i love it, but i don't love the price. The trail period is up and i was wondering what other programs are like lumion and less expensive? I did see the teasers for lumenRT 2015 and did seem to be like lumion, but it isn't out yet. I'm looking for a program like lumion, where i can import su models and build a town/city, and add trees, water, ect. and where i can move around my models and make a video or render pictures?
Thanks for the help

Lumen RT will be at the same level price of Lumion
Maybe you must try some program like Unity who has free version!
But not sure that they have the same "easy do"http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7766tXOpYI0#t=71
Paradise Sandbox has animation ocean function and is free too!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iwAGljxFbc8
else in very low price you have LightUp who has a very easy use and very cool functions!
Compatible with animations inside Sketchup ! (SketchyPhysics etc...)http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4u3SzI9Epaw

That's what i was thinking too. Lumion is super powerful and easy to use hence the price. LumenRT4 hasn't done it for me, so i hope the new one is better. I've tried blender, not what i was hoping for. Same for keyshot. I think when i tried vue, but i didn't like it either. Most of it may have been from my crappy computer, so when i get my new one (i7 4790k, gtx 980, 32mb ram) i will try some of the other ones again, but i agree with Krisidious, that the new LumenRT will be very good and would like to try it.
Thanks again for the help

Make sure you are comparing apples to apples when looking at these programs. Some of these programs are strictly rendering programs. Lumion and LumenRT both also come with components (such as plants, vehicles, characters, etc., some of which are pre-animated) to add in SU. You might also want to look at Podium.

I like the programs with components, Lumion and LumenRT. Just wish LumenRT 2015 would come out already so i can try it out. Do you know of any other programs like Lumion and LumenRT 2015??
Thanks

Vue xStream is like Lumen and Lumion... Kinda. it's not as good and actually better at the same time. $1600... parts of the movie Avatar was made with it. when it comes to terrain and visualization it's incredibly powerful. a bit awkward to work with though.

Vue kicks the ass of any and every exterior animation software by a mile, only problem is it has it's own lingo, plays by it's own rules and you need so much computer power to run a render in decent time, unless you do not mind rendering for a week to get 1 minute animation, that is why the film industry uses Vue as they can as they use their 1000 machine render farms.

You'll be able to have a lot of fun with it... Just longer movies with high vegetation will be harder. But rendering in general you should do well with.
this was done in Vue.

Why not try the PLE (learning version which is free) and test out for yourself, you have a decent machine so who knows

Yes, I'm downloading the PLE right now.
@Krisidious, Here is what i've done in Lumion trial.
all of my models are made in sketchup of course

it's by far the most fantastic thing ever... if it just had the usability of Lumion it would be well worth the money.
You can build your own vegetation groups that age and size themselves naturally. Painting a forest is really kool. The sky and terrain tools are the best I've ever seen, simple and advanced at the same time and powerful. Not to mention infinite terrain.
