      Hello,

My name is Jason. I have been attempting to create a crystal curtain but ran into some issues.

I got the basic crystal build but I have run into an issue the curtains I am trying to build is 3'x 1" x 12' so I have about33 strands of 230 crystals each, So once I get more then 3 strands it really starts to stress the program. so my question is has anyone found any way/ have any ideas on how to keep crystals looking realistic without adding a huge load to sketchup?

I have been using 2D image until recently where I want to make them "shimmer"(more so just have them simi transparent and allow my render add on to bounce some light around/ look more realistic.

My current thought is to drop the crystals them self down to 3-5 sides to reduce the amount of faces but I will lose a lot of detail doing that.

        Hi:
I presume you are using Components and copies of these to populate your file? If so, are the strands hi poly? These could be simply 4 facets.
There may be other conditions, but this is what came to my mind.

I take the slow, deliberate approach in my aimless wandering.

Depending on your render software you could use a proxy instead.
