    Pull a face out of an edge?

      I know I can use the pencil tool to erect edges around the first edge and when it closes it will make face, however, I thought there may be a way to just pull a face out of the edge using a tool or plug in. Is there such a thing?

        TIG's Extrusion tools / extrude edges by vector can do that.
