    Hey guys,

I've got a query. I've recently received a commission from an Architect to provide exterior renderings. He sent me his SKP file today and when I tried to open it, I was advised that because I was using SU 2013 (PRO) that I couldn't. This perplexed me somewhat.

So then I upgraded to SU 2014 (PRO) - I already had my license details and decided that now was a good time to upgrade. I use Maxwell Render and copied my Maxwell plugin folder into my SU 2014 plugins folder (it took me A LONG TIME to do this because of all the locked permissions on my laptop!!!! NOT HAPPY!!!!).

When I opened SU 2014 I couldn't see the Maxwell Render extension, so I did a bit of digging and this is what I found out from the Maxwell Render forum: I use version 2.7.20 of Maxwell Render (they recently launched version 3). But it would appear that version 2.7.20 is not compatible with SU 2014. So this leaves me with no choice but to use SU 2013, which is fine. But it's not fine when clients send me SKP files using SU 2014 that I can't open using SU 2013.

Anyone got any ideas as to how I solve this (without upgrading to Maxwell Render v3 because I only renewed my current license last November)??

    Thanks
    Anita

Open it in SU2014 and use Save as to save it as SU2013.

Or for the next time say to your architects to send you Su files in V 7 or V8 πŸ˜‰
All versions of Su can export in old format! β˜€

I'm the same! I've been doing A LOT of 3D visuals recently and the thought of upgrading to SU 2014 was too much of a headache. Although, I'll obviously be using SO 2013 anyway because I don't have the most up-to-date version of Maxwell Render. Grrrrrrrrr...

Although, just as observation: architectural exterior rendering is a completely different ballgame to interior rendering. I'm not sure I will be extending my portfolio to include exteriors - they don't 'ring my bell'!

These newfangled bells can always cause problems, I find knockers never disappoint.

Kristoff, my bell is most definitely not broken! It was momentarily silenced by the shock!

Box!!!! Can't beat a decent knocker!

Funny, I am sort of the opposite on exterior/interior. Either way you have furniture to deal with inside, and planting on the outside. Furniture is easier. Whatever "floats your boat". Hope you are happy for the weekend!

Hmmm....I'm not sure one is necessarily easier than the other! But I can understand why people would have a certain preference!

... Now, when the problem is solved, I suggest to change a title to this thread,.. maybe to "I'm happy, very happy"... πŸ˜„

You could have also Downloaded the free 2014 version and used it as a converter to 2013.
