Protolabs can't use Sketchup SKP files - other suggestions?
-
Protolabs.com is unable to use SKP files (which is a bit surprising considering the size of the Sketchup community) but I either have to dump my considerable Sketchup learning curve and start over w/ Autocad OR find another prototyping option.
Yes, I could pay someone to convert my files into Autocad but I want to control the entire design process - not have to run back to convert every time I make design changes.
(I'm not looking for 3D printing. I want a CNC cut prototype (plastic) to be followed by production of molds for higher volume of products.)
Has anyone found a prototyper who can use Sketchup 2014 files?

Hi Patrick - welcome!
protolabs FAQ[1] says they accept .stl file also. Have you tried that format?
You can get the .stl extension from the Extension Warehouse from in SketchUp. Your model will likely need to be a "solid" for best results.
