Cutting Holes

Hi everybody :
I downloaded and printed instructions from Sketchucation on how to insert a window into a thick wall. I followed the instructions EXACTLY. But, apparently, the instructions don't work. What I did was, form a wall (from a rectangle), created a window with some depth. A little more depth than the wall. Made the window a component (according to the instructions), the selected CUT OPENING. When I inserted the window into the wall, the window went "into" the wall, but didn't cut the opening. I know I could do it manually, by making an opening in the wall, then inserting the window into that opening. There must be another "work around" using Sketchup 8. I was also using the same instructions on a curved wall. Do I need a Sketchup add-on to accomplish this ? garystan

Hello Garystan. When you say it won't cut an opening, do you mean that it won't cut an opening period, or that it is cutting an opening in only one face of the wall? SU components are limited in that they can cut an opening in only one surface. But there is a work-around. Can you post your SU model/window component.
