Move objects by selecting a destination point
-
Does anyone know if it's possible to move a group or component to a point within the model by pre-selecting that point ? I find it frustrating trying to manoeuvre objects to a specific location, what I'd like to do is click on a corner of a component, (for instance), click on a point in my model and then tell the component to go there.
I hope that makes sense and I really hope someone has an answer to this question.

Should work with the move tool.
select object, select move tool, click on point on object, click on target point. Why is maneuvering needed? The target point needs to be defined by an entity, guide, endpoint, midpoint, intersection of entities etc. No need to preselect it, just snap to it.

It sounds like you might be trying to click and drag instead of click and release.
Using the move tool, click and release the relevant point on the component you want to move to attach it to your cursor. Then click on the point you want to place it. -

Don't worry, it's a common mistake.
You can also click and move without being attached to the piece. For example, you want to move a vase along a cluttered mantlepiece, select the vase with the select tool, then using the move tool follow along the edgeline of the mantle and the vase will move relative to that.
