Largest amount of faces, edges, components etc in one model?
-
Hey
I was wondering how many faces, edges, components, groups has anyone managed to fit in a single sketchup model?
I started to model an high poly spruce tree and quick enough the amount of edges, faces, components went out of hand and it started to lag really badly.
It has 2 755 000 edges, 1 376 000 faces, 151 000 components and 10 000 groups. And it is not even half ready....Also a picture of the spruce on skydrive: http://sdrv.ms/18SRpqP

For fun I copy and pasted part of the spruce and I managed to get 93 000 000 edges, 36 000 000 faces, 700 000 components and it was all simultaneously visible. And I got that far without a single crash. But after that I tried to hide some of it to copy past more and hopefully get over 100 mil edges but it finally crashed. Nicest thing is that sketchup used only 160mb of ram which is 30mb more than skype...

Well I got to 180 000 000 edges, 70 000 000 faces, 1 400 000 components
I believe I could get more out before it crashes third time.

Over two billion, but most are in form of a proxy.
Rendered in Sketchup and new Thea that will be released soon which supports endless proxy's and both GPU and CPU at same time.

wow
That is a lot more than I expected.
Thx for the answer. -

i think this is not really comparable...
but nice model! -
Billions, trillions,... using Octane and instancing.

I have a model that is up to 12,053,494 edges; 5,279,186 faces; 2,987 groups; 182 component definitions; and 13,873 component instances. All SU, no proxies. The computer is starting to lag, however, and I have to turn layers off to do any editing.
