      Hello@All

      could anybody guide me how i can insert a scale factor?

      ok i build objects 1:1

      how i can insert the scale like 1:160, 1:87 etc.

      i would build models for real.

      look here to understand what i search

      Link Preview Image
      HO scale - Wikipedia

      favicon

      (en.wikipedia.org)

      is there a plugin to enter this ?

      0k i could enter for 1:160 --> 0,00625
      or 1:87 --> 0,01149425

      1:87 go faster and this scale i can better hold in my head.

      thank you

      dean

        A quick way would be:

        • draw a line 87 (cm, m, inch, ...) and
        • use the tape measure tool to change the model scale for this line to 1 (cm, ...)

          You have a Pro licence, this is what Layout does - Insert your model and set the scale. Unless of course you need the model scaled for 3D printing?

            If you need your SketchUp models scaled down for 3D printing, I would do as Carsten suggests and use the yellow Tape Measure tool to do the resizing. You can either use a temporary line drawn in the model space or scale some known dimension.

            I've done paper models of buildings for model railroads. Here's an example:

            http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5087/5355804283_aaf9ed2243_z.jpg

            I unfolded the building in the lower left corner to get the image, below. I inserted that as a viewport into Layout which I scaled to suit my son's N-scale railroad. Then I made a PDF file and had it printed on some heavy card stock. This part is all more easily done in LayOut and then the model could be printed at any scale.

            I added tabs to my final design although they don't show here.

              papercraft is cool... im not sure... i had seen a plugin here... like unfold.

              i would love do have both a plugin for papercraft and 3d printing.

              papercraft for lowcost or lowbudged and 3d printing for models on the Table.

              @ cotty du bist ein scherzkeks πŸ˜‰--cotty youre a joker.

              a plugin will be faster and my deadline is not a problem than.

              i have never print in 2d and 3d. is the result really acceptable?

              @ dave. a model railroad was ever i big wish for me as a kid. however we have had only a sleepingroom and livingroom. the coal cellar was to small and dusty and the garret open for all renter.
              i play sometimes with railsimulator on PC πŸ˜‰ you see my dream is now reality...vitual reality πŸ˜„

                  Indeed! Cotty is not joking with you. And his method with the Tape Measure tool would be every bit as fast as a plugin. Learn what the native tools can do before you ask for plugins to do the same thing.
