      Dear SketchUp Power Users !

Following the success of my first collaborative book, "Créer avec SketchUp", published in French and later translated under the title "Google SketchUp Workshop", the publisher Pearson asked me to take back my role as editor to make a sequel (in French) and show new cases of brillant use of SketchUp.

Want to join and see your work with SketchUp published (and incidentally your professionnal - or not - activities promoted in a book) ?

So don't hold back and submit your case study now !

To be eligible, the case should contain the following informations :

      • Author's presentation and contact infos (so I can ask you more informations if needed)
      • A short description of your workflow with SketchUp.
      • A more detailed description of the case study you want to share with the readers. SketchUp shouldn't be the one and only software you use in the case study (as it rarely is) but the part about other softs will be very concise !
      • As many images, drawings, photos or else that can illustrate your case study and help us get a good understanding of your subject.
      • The proposal (and following case study if you are selected) must be in English or French.

Your case study in the book will be about 20 pages long, images included.

Sounds great ? Want to be part of it ?

You have until November 17th to send me your candidature by email at contact AT arch-image.com.

Each and every candidate will be contacted shortly after this date, either she's selected or not.

Keep doing incredible things with SketchUp ! I'm eager to see your work !

      Best Regards,

      Laurent Brixius

            Hello ArCAD-UK,

Each co-author will be paid € 125 per contribution and will receive a copy of the book. Given the number of contributors to this book, unless an outstanding success, a profit sharing percentage (in this case tenth of a percent) would certainly be less interesting.

Honestly, if it was for money, I wouldn't do it again. Given the time spent for the selection of candidates, back and forth to get to the final publishable case studies from each co-author, the translations, not counting the time spent on my own contribution as an author, I earn much more as 3D graphic designer and trainer!

But to be published is a great opportunity to promote your business, whether professional or not. And it also increases your personal brand awareness and opportunities for collaboration. And I also like the idea of contributing in this way to help other SketchUp users to make the most of SketchUp.

Many co-authors of the first book came from this Sketchucation forum so maybe they can tell you what had been the benefits of their participation in the first book ?

            Kind Regards,

            Laurent

I'm interested. Do we sent the information to the link you provided here? And how would you like this? In PDF form or a word document? Is there a particular project you are interested in focusing on?

                Hi Elibjr,

You can send your informations to my email : contact AT arch-image.com

You can send me those informations either with .TXT, .DOC, .DOCX, .ODT, .PDF files, it doesn't matter.

We are particularly interested by fields of application that do really profit of SketchUp strengths : architecture, interior design, construction, furniture design, decoration, event organization, landscape design, game design, TV set design, energy analysis and so on.

For exemple, using SketchUp for designing a car body doesn't seem a practical use of SU as no car manufacturer will ever produce a car body from an SKP file (or I would be very amazed).

The submitted case studies shouldn't be too simple as the book is aimed at intermediate to expert SketchUp users. Each case study should also share some interesting insights, plugin usage and tips and tricks of use for the majority of readers. And even if you use other softwares before, between or after SketchUp, those steps should be very concise with the main part of the study about SketchUp and LayOut.

I'm waiting for your candidature 😉

                Laurent

                  Hi SU Power Users,

You've got less than two weeks left to send your candidature to apply for the book.

I've already received some great case studies about many uses of SketchUp but there's still room for a few more, including in architecture and interior design.

If you think you've got great advices to share with the readers, don't be late ! Send me your candidature to contact AT arch-image.com or by PM.

                  Best Regards,

                  Laurent
