Conversion of Imperial to Metric in existing drawing
-
Hi,
I am wondering if anyone knows how to take a current layout drawing that is multiple pages drawn as imperial and convert it to display as metric without having to redraw all dimensions etc.
I have a client who I did a project for and the entire project was done in imperial - 13 pages. We have now been asked by another municipality that these plans will be submitted to - that they need to be in metric. Weird for this area as all housing drawings are all imperial however they have asked them to be in metric.
I have a ton of hours in this project and just really dread going back to redo everything in metric.
Is there an easy fix to this?Sorry if this in the wrong area of the forum.
Thanks for the help.

One method would be Use the eye dropper to "take" the style of dimension you want, then use the paint can to change every other dimension you want to change.
Hint. all dims should be on one layer and you should lock all other layers while doing this.
Also you can select all the dims you want to change and then manually change them in the dim window.
Now, all this being said; all this is going to do is change the measurement to read in Metric. all of your imperial sizes, or at least most will not be standard for the nation you send them. The whole point of metric is to simplify dimensions and sizes... When you convert 8'1-1/8" it's going to come out to a really crappy metric number. like 2.46698 meters or 2466.98 millimeters... Not very "Metric" and for Construction I believe most nations use Millimeter, not Meter.
There are many actual Metric Architects and Designers here and I'm sure some of them can shed much more light on this... I'm just shooting in the dark.

Hi Kristoff
Thank you so much. I just tried what you said and it works like a charm. Definitely a time saver. Thank you again.

Glad to hear it... Always remember that it's the fault of the British that we ever used Imperial.
Here's a PDF that you might find helpful as well. The METRIC DESIGN GUIDE...
http://www.ofeo.si.edu/ae_center/docs/gsa%20metric%20design%20guidelines.pdf
It's not exactly the same as Euro style, but it's close and could be very helpful as it's written from our point of view towards theirs instead of just Metric. It has standard sizes the metric builders expect.
