Hey there. This is a work in progress I've had lots of fun with. Built in sketchup and rendered in 3DS max.
It's a Prussian (German) steam loco first built around the 1890's. It looks very different from American or British-built steam engines, but could easily top 70 Mph, making it reliable for high-speed passenger trains.

First a Sketchup screenshot of the current model:

That is fantastic. Why did you set up your level of SketchUp as beginner? πŸ˜‰ You are definitely not a beginner πŸ˜„

              Very impressive work πŸ‘

What are your plans with this, gonna do any texturing? Is the cab area really that spartan? Just seems like there oughta be something more in there (at least somewhere for the poor engineer to sit πŸ˜‰ )

"What are your plans with this, gonna do any texturing?"

Wish I could, but the best I can do right now is apply some materials. I have yet to learn how to UV map a model (outside sketchup anyway, which isn't that effective at texture mapping ).

"Is the cab area really that spartan?"

Nooo, it's not complete yet. πŸ˜„ The cab has lots of things. Here's how it should look (not my model): http://i429.photobucket.com/albums/qq17/niki68photo/1098.jpg And the loco has a tender as well, which should be easy to build.
