KML/jpg overlay in Sketchup

Hi Folks,
anyone know how I can open google earth terrain in sketchup with a custom overlay applied?
hopefully without uploading a kml?
all I want is to open a georeferenced image displayed on the google terrain so i can position my models,
shouldnt be too hard right?also, can the terrain elevation in sketch up be altered?
I keep importing google terrain and each time its a different elevation.thanks for any help,
i honestly thought google would have a better georeferencing/overlay control by now,
Im afraid to buy pro because the free version barely works!el Gato Negro
