Solidworks to Sketchup import process
-
This is my process to import and optimize 3D models from Solidworks. I thought I should share it with the community and hear your thoughts. This process might seem a bit redundant but after I've started getting mixed geometry types in the model I've adopted this process and it makes it a bit foolproof.
Waiting for your valuable comments to tweak the process.

I used MOI3D which opens IGS and export SKP with polygon count control. Very easy and effective.

hi guys,
an interesting topic about SW and SU.
may i know the backward process of exporting SU models to SW please?
i mean not only a wireframe model, but a full model with textures and surface.
(used in SW for further editing if possible)
thanks ! -
I haven't tried that direction yet, but looking at the list here I can see there's 3D DXF and VRML which both should export textures, although I wouldn't count too much on DXF's ability to transfer textures. Hope it works and please post the outcomes of your trials, I'd love to document if there's a way to do that.
cheers
