3D Plants
-
Hi everybody :
I need some advice about 3D Trees/Plants. I want to start adding 3D plants to my projects. I'd like to use them indoors....for decoration. I tried it in one of my previous home designs, and I noticed that it took a number of seconds to import it. Probably the large amount of data ? I khow there are 2D plants out there, but they seem flat, and don't give much in the way of shadowing, when doing a render. Any advice ? garystan

you need to see the poly count of the plants. a lot of people just import plants from other programs that are very high polycount and that's not good for sketchup. here at SCF the low poly plant pack will start you off.

otherwise when you down load a plant form the warehouse click on view>hidden geometry. this will show you all the polys in the plant... the more there are the harder it will be for sketchup to handle.

You could also take a look at the plugin Artisan. It has a poly reduction tool (and lots more).
