Best Free (or very cheap) Render Software
-
I have a simple quick question. I am looking for the best free rendering software. I have been attempting to use Maxwell free for sketchup, but I get less than great results and lighting (that isn't the sun) just won't work for me.
If it helps, I mostly do home interiors, and some exterior.

Real free (unlimited) there is only one and it's pretty damn good too, Kerkythea.

Thanks for the suggestion. Definitely a big learning curve compared to Maxwell. I will be doing a lot of playing around with it. However, basic lighting is already working so that is a plus.

Maxwell light definitely works, so if you like it otherwise, maybe you just need to spend more time learning the lighting.
But if you don't really care for Maxwell anyhow, than that's fine. But don't give up on it just because you can't get the lights to work, because they definitely do work.
Another option could be to export to blender. Amazing work coming out of that software.

Two commercial renderers: Twilight, Raylectron. Both currently advertised for under $100. Then Thea, Shaderlight, Indigo. Significantly higher in price and licensing complexity.

renderin (the more easy), Light Up...

the more fun Lumion free animation and fixed image (maxi 1920*1080)
