Hi. I'm new. Church pastor, author, designing new church.

Hello all. My username is my real name. I'm pastor of a church in Clarksburg, WV. I'm new on the forum. Looking for a Podium forum...? We're using SU for creating a 3D topo model based on 2D topo, using that to create a 3D grading plan from which 2D plans can be printed, and creating a 3D construction pre-vis from which 2D stills can be rendered, and 2D schematics can be printed. Again, looking now for Podium forum. I guess it's been merged with something above it, from what I'm reading. Just checking to be sure. Have a couple of rendering issues/questions. Thanks in advance for your wonderful knowledge and kindness!

Here is the official Podium site and forum: http://www.suplugins.com/
However we do have many Podium users here but no dedicated Podium forum.

Feel free to ask the questions you have, I'm sure you will get the responses you desire from this community.

Thanks!
One issue is a material texture that I created, and which was rendering, then suddenly stopped rendering. I have lurked and read. I know that the front face is painted and it's facing the camera. And if that was the issue, it would not have rendered earlier before stopping. The 'write permissions' issue could not be it, or the texture would never have rendered properly. I have closed SketchUp and restarted it. I have painted a different texture, and it rendered. But when I reapply the one I want, it won't. Ugh. Any ideas?
Another issue is that Podium's 'geometry caching' feature does not work on the model (same as above issue). I have another model that geometry caches properly. Since this is a rather full model (Podium calls it 179,000 'entities'), not having caching working is a real time drain. Another ugh. Any ideas?
Thanks in advance!

I do not use Podium anymore, I did use version 1 years ago so I may not be of help, however regarding the texture that is not rendering, could it be a naming error? What is that texture format and name?
-
Thanks!
My initial thought is that a naming issue would have meant the texture would not have been rendering before. It worked fine (rendered properly) then just stopped.
The skm name is straightforward: Stone-floor-tile-brown-quad-300.skm
The jpg inside is also straightforward: Stone-floor-tile-brown-quad-300_1.jpg
See anything wrong there? Any more ideas?
I am still pressing on it.

Hmmm, without having the scene and Podium it's difficult to guess what is causing this, I do remember in the past the trick to fixing issues like this or even geometry that did not render was to select all, copy open a new instance of Sketchup then paste in place, save as a new name, close previous original model and try render with new saved model.

Thanks!
Re: the copy, paste, save new...
I had done that last night (for another reason), but will probably do it again just to troubleshoot this.
But I think that before I do that, I will delete the texture, rebuild it from scratch, and try that. It's the only one that does not render.

Success! I recreated the material from scratch. For anyone having the same issue, I edited the texture image, changing it from 300x300 pixels to 512x512, and I saved it under a new name. I then rebuilt the material using the new name also. It has started rendering again.
Now if I could just solve the issue of the model's geometry not caching. That was the reason I did the 'select all+copy+paste-in-new+save-as-new' trick last night. It has not helped. I may head over to the Podium official forum and see if I can get some ideas.
Thank you again, Solo!!
