Sketch-up animations

I was attempting to create an animation of a accesible lift. I created 5 scenes with the lift at 2 foot increments. For some reason the animations would not sense the lift at different elvations. The scenes would only respond to views which rotated the elements.I only noticed this glitch with with the lift because any other scenes I created always involved some rotational factor to the scenes.
Has anyone else found this to be the case. Would like any suggestions
I'm using sketch-up 8 free version. does this make a difference?

Can you share the file? Are the scenes set to save "Visible Layers"? Open up the lower pane in the Scene Window and see.

And in "Save as V6" if possible or V7 if there are Dynamic Components

Without an animation plugin you will not be able to move the lift between different scenes. The only possibility with scenes would be that you use a separate layer for each lift, but this would only animate their visibility and not their position. See the properties which could be saved with a scene...

Linear animations should be possible, too. I incidentally happen to have such an example here: http://sketchup.google.com/3dwarehouse/details?mid=ed59be21c985f8b9355c86c4d8277f01

Yes, but as mentioned before, you only control the visibility of different trains (lifts) and not the position of one train (lift), for small animations this can be a solution of course
Edit: I reread the first post and your example is the perfect example for the desired task

Thanks Cotty, I completely missed the point in the first post reading as if Albert had copies of the lift.

Hello Albert,
SAT animation tool (http://www.simfonia.fr/SAT/) should help you to overcome your problems. If you want you can send me your SkecthUp model on Private-Message and I'll make the animation for you.
Best regards;
