How to make an action button
-
Is it possible to put an action button on a model that will activate animation? What I am wanting to do is make a training tool for my job. I work at an oil rifinery. I want to attach a button that when pushed it will go through a predetermined animation that will follow the flow of the product through the pipes. Is that even possible or am I dreaming?

Time to wake up now...
You are almost describing the click behavior of a Dynamic Component (using the InteractTool.)
But an entire petrochemical plant ?? That would be one complex DC!
The Pro version is required to create and edit Dynamic Components.
Take further discussion to the Dynamic Components forum.
The other option is a Ruby plugin, that hilights (or changes the material color) of pipe sections in a certain order based on the pipe component or groups's name. (Which each would need to be unique.)

Hi taylorjl
There is a 'Play Animation' action (right click on Scene Tab) with button Play, Pause or Stop.
It would jump from Scene to Scene. You can even skip some Scenes from your animation sequence (right click on Scene Tab > Scene Manager > Include in Animation).
Under Model Info > Animation > Transition you can adjust Scene Transition and Scene Delay.
Set Scene Transition to 5
Set Scene Delay to 0You will get 'smooth' animation.
PS. You could install SketchUp Viewer for your 'Students' to be sure that they don't play too much with your model.
