Is there a freely available version of Sketchup Viewer that I can download and carry on my USB? Or get my friends to download, so that they can view my drawings.

I downloaded the latest SketchUp Viewer, which is distro'd as an msi Installer dB file.

I opened the msi archive with 7zip, and extracted the entire contents to a thumb drive.

I then renamed the file "xercesc_2_6.dll" to "xerces-c_2_6.dll" (I have no idea why it is misnamed in the archive, but if you do not rename it, a error popup will occur stating:

I was able to run "Viewer.exe" from the thumb drive, both on my XP machine (that has a full SketchUp Pro 8 install,) and on my Mom's Win7 notebook, that has NEVER had any SketchUp edition installed on it.

I suspect in the case of my Mom's Win7 notebook, that all of the MSVC runtime library DLLs that are needed by the Viewer, are already installed "out-of-the-box" or have been installed by Microsoft Update.

I think all those DLL files with the archive names are not used when the Viewer is run this way (since the Microsoft installer was never run on the msi.)
So it maybe that without those files, the total size of the needed files is only about 17MB.

        ❗

I do not know if this can also be done with the Mac edition.

        ❓

Note: Even running from a thumb drive, the SketchUp Viewer applet still writes into the CurrentUser Hive of the Windows Registry.

          %(#804000)[HKCU\\Software\\Google\\Viewer]

Weirdly... the following key is created but never used:
