Here is a list of plugins that are known to be problematic in SketchUp. The purpose of the list is to provide a central resource to track buggy plugins. This will hopefully reduce some the many hours of frustration experienced by users, authors, and supporters of plugins. It goes without saying that if you install a quarantined plugin, you're going to have a bad time.

There may be several reasons that a plugin may end up in quarantine:

    1. It crashes SketchUp.
    2. It changes the behavior of SketchUp in a way that is indistinguishable from a bug.

    Discuss this topic.

    List of Quarantined Plugins

    • [anchor=matchbox:29utfzb5][/anchor:29utfzb5]Matchbox_r1.1
Reason: Changes the behavior of Array.* and Array.+
      Action: Removed download.
Recommendation: Do not install this plugin; remove if installed.
      Files: MatchboxPlugin.rb, MatchboxPlugin/

    • [anchor=sketchyphysics:29utfzb5][/anchor:29utfzb5]SketchyPhysics
Adds numerous methods to SketchUp's classes, most notoriously modifying Sketchup::Group#copy. Uses many global variables.
Recommendation: Disable SketchyPhysics when not in use. To disable, "check" the Menu: Plugins > SketchyPhysics > Version > Disabled, then restart SketchUp

    • VirtualWind
      (Company closed.)
Adds methods to SketchUp's classes; conlicts with progressbar.rb.
Recommendation: Do not install. Remove or rename plugin files.
      Files: virtualwindPlugin.rb and VirtualWind/.

    • SketchUpBIM
For invasive user interface - odd layer and camera behavior, conflict with the Lightup and other plugins. The SketchUpBIM topic is full of complaints.
      Recommendation: Do not install.

I may have a look at it, to see what I can do to help solve some of the issues with this plugin.

Did the Quarantine list become smaller? I remember a lot more plugins in this list. I had a question about a plugin that was quarantined, quarr_jsalign.rb and I was wondering just why this plugin was quarantined.

I use this plugin all the time. To drop component/Group to a set elevation and just wanted to make sure just what it was doing to my Sketchup program.

Now, I see the list is shorter and doesn't include this plugin. Am I looking in the right place or has the list been modified.

The logs list no edits for this thread. Just locks/unlocks, merge and bump.
