Unity 3D content in Sketchup
-
I case you are missing some trees for your Sketchup models, this could be interesting for you. I have been working a little bit with Unity 3D (free version) and I have purchased several tree collections (birch, pine, spruce, etc.). I just noticed that it is quite easy to import these trees into Sketchup. I have been using Unity’s Export obj script to export Unity trees and then I have used free import script for importing the trees into Sketchup. Below you can see the trees in Sketchup. Maybe the quality is not the best when using the trees as Sketchup model, but when rendering the model the trees look quite ok.
In unity Asset Store there are several tree collections that cost 10-20 USD. Also the poly count is quite low. The model including these 3 trees has about 5900 faces. Anyway, I don’t know if there is some kind of limitation in Unity Asset Store that would state that Asset Store content can be only used in Unity 3D. This would need to be checked before using the content in Sketchup. Also, there are plenty on good other content in Unity Asset Store (vegetation, rocks, etc.)
