The most recent episode of the Discovery Channel reality show, "American Guns" features the design and building of a replica US Civil War, double barrel cannon.
In the episode, Paige Wyatt, handles the out sourcing of the cannon's carriage, to a nearby carriage maker. It is this segment that this craftsman, who has extensive experience recreating period correct carriage designs for artillery, turns to his laptop, brings up one of his previous projects in SketchUp, and quickly modifies it (in like 2 secs,) into a double barrel design.

This episode will re-air this morning, Sat., 30 June, at 10::00AM (which I imagine is in EDT or CDT.) That would like 2/3-ish PM GMT.

I did not catch the name of the carriage maker... but it would be interesting to find out more about how he uses SketchUp to design and build his projects.

Perhaps the CatchUp team can track him down and do an interview ??

      I'm not here much anymore.

OK... I recorded the show again on my DVR.

Looks like he is David Schulte
          of:
Scenic Mercenary Studio in Denver, CO

They appear to use SketchUp alot...

Iv modelled the complete mechanism of the styer AUG rifle as its standard weapon and I teach it on a regular bases in the job, unfortunately I can't display the model as its forbidden to give out weapon details and I'll be putting my job at risk

I wonder if the animation in the episode teaser, from 00:46 ... 1:16 secs was done with SketchUp ??

Dan I'm not so sure that is SU, but hey I could be wrong, I'm not much for using the styles in SU but if someone could replicate the style and it matches the clip then I'd be convinced

I thot it resembled one of the blueprint like styles.
