DC optimization help
-
I’m hoping I can get some help optimizing my dynamic component.
This DC is one of my first. It’s an adjustable dashed stripe street marking. I’m hoping it'll speed up streetscape modeling.
The idea is that I can place this DC in the model, scale it to length, make it the correct stripe width, and adjust it to the appropriate striping pattern.
Our models tend to have a lot of stripes, from dozens to hundreds, so it needs to be optimized. I’ve already noticed that Sketchup gets bogged down when I resize the length of the component and it needs to recalculate the number of dashes. Sketchup is also slow to copy multiple instances of it.
That’s where I can use your help: are there better dynamic component techniques to help Sketchup process it faster?
Also, so far it's just a flat, straight version. But I’d love to hear ideas to make it work for terrain or curves!
Thanks!
