Leather straps on a sword hilt
-
On the image attached you can see the effect I'm trying to achieve. Any suggestions on how to approach this? The 'draw helix' plugin is already installed. I want to use a round hilt preferably.
Thanks in advance!

Here's one way. You'll need Hidden geometry turned on to see the first stages. Basically, just make a barber's pole kind of helix (there is more than one way). Then use Joint Push-Pull on two copies of this...a thin extrusion for the innermost strap, a fatter extrusion for the outermost, flip one then superimpose one over the other.
If you really want to go for it and have one strap bulging where it crosses over the other, you would be better off working all the extra detail into a single, repeatable section and then duplicate it upwards.

Ah, that's quite brilliant! Let's see if I can do this myself

cheers!
