Maxwell render and Glass, it confuses me!
-
Could someone point me in the right direction for a no hassle glass material that i can use for simple light studies within SU?
I have tried many from the maxwell resources and they either looks very very dark or are completely invisible?
This glass is not for normal arch viz but more for an experimental phase where I need to see what happens If i take some random shapes embedded in each other made from glass and so on.Thanks in advance!

My RAL Glass line (on the Maxwell resources website) is setup to precisely mimic real world colored glasses (generically)... in order to adjust the attenuation (for more or less transparency) you would have to change the settings in MXED.
Bear in mind that in order for Maxwell to render glass correctly it needs to be modeled precisely using these guidelines:
- It must be a closed volume (SketchUp Solid)
- It must be modeled to real world specifications in all aspects (including thickness).
- Generally high-poly is better (for rounded shapes) -- typically for a drinking glass I would start with a circle with 360 sides (normal smoothing does not smooth caustics).

Hello Jason!
Thank you very much for the detailed information
I'll try to follow the guidelines and try out your RAL version - looks very promising!
