Print preview problems with SU 8

I have searched the forums for info on this problem, but found nothing since 2009!
I have XP Home and SU ver 8. When I make a model and try a "file, print preview", sometimes I can see the model fine, and other times all I can see is a big black rectangle in the middle of the page. When I try to print (Samsung ML-2525W laser), I get the big black rectangle no matter whether the print preview looks good or black.Anyone got any good ideas? If this was a known problem back in ver 6, why has it not been solved by ver 8? Thanks for any help.
Also, I cannot export to a .jpg file, only to a .png file (which I don't know what it is).
