    Hello,

I found this site and thought it might be useful to some of you. Here is the write up from a blog I follow:

http://www.quickScreenShare.com lets you remotely control the mouse and keyboard of your colleagues’ computers without leaving your desk.

Screen sharing tools are useful because they can be used for all kinds of demonstrations, including new software training, or they can be used to collaborate on projects to save time on content development. You don’t have to spend money on a screen sharing service to quickly share your screen. Here’s how to use QuickScreenShare.com :

•Visit http://www.quickscreenshare.com and select whether you’d like to share your screen or view someone else’s
•Type in your name and click start, in seconds, a unique URL will be generated for you
•Share this URL with the person that you want to share screen with via email, AIM message, etc.
•Once you share your unique URL, the recipient will click on the link, select “ok” and start screen sharing!

Now that you know how to use QuickScreenShare.com , here are three quick tips to keep in mind for a smooth screen sharing experience:

•De-clutter your desktop and close all other windows that are not relevant to what you are sharing
•Turn off alerts to remove potential distractions
•Pull up the content that you want to share before you start the screen sharing process for maximum efficiency

    It is also Free.

    Paul

Thanks Paul. As we do online SU training, we are always interested in different screen sharing applications (you can never find the best and ideal solution though). I1d have some questions (if you tried it):

How is the frame rate? Did you find any serious lag between the two computers?

Also, do SU tool cursors (like and such) get through the screen sharing session? I have found that some applications just display the default cursor (generally an arrow) which of course makes it at least crippled if not completely useless with SU.

        @Csaba

We tried this back when you had wifi. You have wifi don't you?

It's limited to 15min from what I remember.

Not free when over 15 min screen sharing is required. I'm looking at http://www.vyew.com again AND there is free version with a small advert. They also have an advert free version with some extras.

Google+ just released screensharing with its Hangouts feature. I don't believe you can control the other person's screen though.

I just did it with Csaba. We even shared SketchUp screens. A bit buggy though. But Csaba sounded lovely as always 😉

And the chat with Rich was as fun as usual (although I would not dare to share it here)

sometimes, if we still open this forum tab in the browser it wont open the page.
since the website might have some kind of protection against tracker or any similar script.
so we need to close the forum tab first sometimes, to be able to see the page of the site.

                        Gaieus,

No, I haven't tried it. Just thought it may be of interest to some here. Stumbled upon on it during my never-ending quest (it seems) to find a program that plays well with Powerpoint and Sketchup.

I bought Camtasia Studio last summer but haven't played with it yet. Have been focused on learning Sketchup which I discovered around the same time. The answer to my problems may already be installed on my computer. 😄 My goal is to produce industrial training materials and Sketchup was the largest missing link.

Once I had Camtasia, too (it was offered for free as a Christmas present some 3 years ago) and I did like it but then my HD crashed and I could never recover my license. Then I did not use it much enough to buy...

I believe Mikogo also allows remote control and has other nice features like white board, and participant pointers.
