38 Gun Frigate L`Aurore

Would the sails be that reflective?
Apart from that a friend asked if you only make replica models or do you 'computer modes too'? (her words verbatim)
She was shocked to find out that it wasn't a physical model.

Thanks guys, I guess those sails are abit reflective, Ill try get them to behave abit in game.
Haha hey compare my shots to some of the HSM Surprise photo`s...theres still a long way to go!
Im using 3ds max to render, post production? lol straight from max.
The Sim is Vehicle Sim Framework, does any type of moving vehicle, well almostDid much work on the interiors over the last 2 days, Texture
ing, Refitting, and modeling extra
s. Looking for books right now that depict the furnishings of any of these frigates or period ships in general, pretty hard to find.[img:2pqixgjb]http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7164/6551070947_036a1c1f31_b.jpg[/img:2pqixgjb]

I get excited every time I see a new update on this topic...so cool!
I was wondering, not knowing anything about ships like this, why are the two cannons near the stern of the ship in their own separate room?
-
That's already the captain's/officer's quarters so they are separate rooms however no space is wasted on a ship like this so there are also cannons there.
-
Thanks Unigami, these ships where designed starting from the guns, the deck height was designed only to fit the guns and make them workable, hence why they ceiling is so low, the rest comes after the guns. I believe that the 2 aft guns where stowed up against the port as to make more space in the effected cabins, those being the Captains bed chamber, The Coach room and the Great Cabin.
Completed texturing inside, still need to map and texture the walls in max and Gimp. Interior altogether is 52k Poly`sThe top pic shows only the Lantern Lights at night, next pic shows with Daylight.
-
Sails and Rudder fitted, Still no extra baking done, but its coming soon.
-
Im more and more impressed everytime you add more to this post, super model
-
aha less reflective sails now.
no longer satin but cotton instead
love your works Marius(edited)
may i download a copy of that last image, Marius?
it's so detailed. so gorgeous
like what i have in Sid Meier's Pirates but with more detailed beautiful model there -
Thanks, Sure Irwanwr copy away , nice to see that pic, spent many hours on that game
Baking these textures is a long process, Ive now Baked over 23 Texture AO maps along with the 23 Texture maps, some AO maps can take over 2 hours, and with a 22 hour power out yesterday it really doesnt help, here a few in game screenies: -
hi Marius,
you play Sid Meier's Pirates too!?
the forth on the above post looks so gorgeous -
Some props from Below Decks, Each Item has its own UV maps and Textures.
-
More work on the Textures, The exterior is pretty much ready apart from the figurehead and the gunport textures, struggeling to get the same Yellow.
Dropped the Exterior AO by 20% as the ship did look abit Dark in game.Still have to hang the Lanterns and Firebuckets, along with making the Furled sails.
-
i love the ship
feels like i'm going to jump into the screen
have you ever made a tutorial on making the hull somewhere, Marius? -
Thanks irwanwr, I think I did ages ago but I cant remember, are you needing some help?
Added the Furled sails and Fixed some more textures, Found out that the Upper Deadeyes where "accidently" Deleted 2 weeks ago, Lucky I have a different version saved everyday so I could go and find them
