In the attached file I've created a hollow cylinder (.125" thick wall) and placed a cube inside. I've applied a color to the inside and outside faces and set one opacity to 4 and the other to 5. I can see from the outer wall to the inner wall, but not through the inner wall across the interior space (so I can't see the cube). I'd like the cylinder to be sufficiently transparent to see things behind it (not just inside). What am I doing wrong? Thanks.

Paint the back faces of the cylinder wall with that transparent materials, too.

Also, the file is in SU version 7.1 but your profile still says 6.4. I saved it back to 7.1 now - can you open it? (Would you please, update your profile to avoid confusion? Note that there is a weird "spambot trap" question at the bottom, too.)

Thanks, Gaieus. I've updated my profile, and I was able to open the file, but what are the "back faces" of a round cylinder? I can only think of inside, outside, top, and bottom.

You have a cylinder with wall thickness - however the "inside" of this wall is hollow and if you want to completely see through this thick wall, you need to paint the back faces of your wall transparent, too. Just hide the outside surface and you can paint the back face of the inner surface. Then unhide last...
