3D Warehouse in Linux
-
I can't get this running. Has anyone else (in Linux and Wine) gotten the 3d Warehouse operating properly? Everything else seems fine, I just didn't want to get too far into learning Sketchup if this is never going to work.

It depends how 3D Warehouse is not working properly and what else is working fine. What did you do to install SketchUp and make it work in Wine?
I guess you still need to install ie8 with winetricks: Rename the folder ~/.wine/drive_c/Program Files/Internet Explorer to create a backup, then install "ie8" and finally restore the original Internet Explorer folder (you don't need the new one). This is necessary because Wine's built-in Internet Explorer (based on Firefox's Gecko) does not yet support custom "application protocols" which are required for communication between SketchUp and webdialogs (but it will be added in future).

The window pops up with a couple/three buttons (I think back, forward, and home) but the rest is blank. I'll try the IE8 route today.

or, simply go to the model you want in your favorite web browser (I'm using Chrome and this is the only one I can confirm this works for), right click the image it shows and click "Open Link in New Tab" and a new tab will open and it will download the SKP of the model. Then, in SketchUp, File->Import and search for your downloaded SKP.
Hope this helps

(Hi, this is a very old thread. 3D Warehouse works in any normal browser, like Firefox/Opera/Chromium/Epiphany/Midori etc. or on any other device/system.)
