Is there a way to create a structure in google sketchup like the bird nest? I mean all the solid extrusions intersecting each other but

when they intersect the intersecting square doesn't come at all, i.e. to say the coplanar lines get deleted. I don't want to use the cleanup tool. I'm in a search of a way that makes me do like this

if there are 2 sqare extrusions [that is two cuboids], I make them intersect in a crisscross way, thereby making a plus sign, so the centre portion doesn't come as square.
