My biggest challenge so far
-
Hi everyone,
Thank you for your support, especially for those who have given me helping hands.
Without you, I wouldn't be able to successfully finish my projects. Deeply appreciated.Even though I'm able to complete all the projects I've been given, a bigger challenge is at my gate right now. As always, my boss wants me to get it done very soon. I have before Friday. THAT'S JUST GREAT.
This creep has curves everywhere almost on any angle, I couldn't even get the core properly shaped. See what I have here(check the link):
I guess I need to find some shortcuts here. I'm still working on the core, since I couldn't get it properly shaped. I will import dwg. for those details. Not going to drive myself crazy for those detail this time, and I don't think I have enough time for that either.

You have my sympathy, not even I would attempt that.

Probably a piece of cake for Dave R. As a matter of fact it kind of looks like a piece of cake
Your first shortcut is that the entire piece seems to be symmetrical, and so, you can mirror model it with components. Those corners would be handled like Dave has shown in his tutorials regarding curved legs. The decorative carved stuff might be handled with a photo texture? I just took a quick glimpse, so I may be way off here. I wish you luck. -
What Mitcorb says (about the basic shape, not the patterns). I have a chest of drawers (from my very beginner, newbie times) and it was made the way he is referring to Dave1s tutorials (although I did not even had an idea who Dave is at that time).
See the model here:

Pretty extreme furniture you're dealing with
Are people really buying this stuff?Good luck!

What is the end use for the model? I think that makes a big difference in how doable the project is. To me it seems that you should do every little ornament and flourish as a separate object and the apply those to the basic furniture shape. To build as one integrated object would be difficult. But one little form at a time and I think you could do it. The time line is something else. I think it would take me weeks.
What it comes down to the end use. As just a render you could get very close and then polish the details in photoshop. If you needed a perfect physical 3D model there would be a lot more problems.
And in a render would it be a close up or just part of a furnished room.
I think its is more a question of practicality than possibility.
Take a look at the surface of the cannon that I modeled:

Also go through the whole topic at: http://forums.sketchucation.com/viewtopic.php?f=81&t=26545&hilit=cannon+nelson#p228800 to understand what a pain it was.And by all means please tell me the end use for the project as I am very curious.
