Blank white drawing window
-
Hello. I'm a former ACAD modeler and I have shared and emailed and converted to and from Vectorworks on many collaborations. I am not new to CAD.
I have created a model in sketch up 8 that includes a few components from the warehouse. I copied all to a USB drive to continue working on my project at home. My drawing opens, I can see the preview and can see a "print preview" but my screen is blank white. I am prompted to save if I have moved the cursor before closing.
I have gone to Intel to install the latest version of the chip-set drivers for my Vista mobile PC to no avail. Though I currently have only 1 Gig RAM, so does my office PC and it works beautifully there.
I really need to be able to work at home.
Please advise. -
Hi Edward and welcome.
Can you take a screen shot of what you are seeing and post it here? Just a shot in the dark! Sounds like it could be a graphics card problem?

So it seems to be a video card/driver issue. Note that integrated chipsets will almost certainly NOT work well with SU (they are simply for some basic office and internet browsing tasks, not for something that needs full support of OpenGL).
I am afraid your only choice now is to disable hardware acceleration under Window > Preferences > OpenGL settings. This can slow down the performance especially with shadows on and higher resolution image textures but since with HW acceleration on, you do not have any performance at all, you will at least be able to work.

Thank you both.

There seems no helping it, the card won't co-operate. Several hours of frustration, and display crashes followed by sad acceptance. Strange since I think I remember using SU6 on it before ...The good news is that the Battle-Ax in the basement has a card that is working OK so far.(I refer to an old PC, not my wife)
Thanks again I will surely be utilizing this fine site and I'll have plenty of questions.

It can be so frustrating to develop such problems like being able to see only the “blank white drawing window” which makes it impossible for any work to be done especially when you are working on projects like these!! Since the cards are giving him problems, it sure seems to be something to do with the issue!
