Internet Radio

There are some really interesting and customised web radio services like http://musicovery.com/ but what I would really like to know is whether or not it is legal to record streaming Internet radio.
Would it be illegal to record copyrighted materials for personal use? I assume that distributing copyrighted materials, on the other hand, does constitute copyright infringement and is illegal.thank you numbthumb . There's one station I know called Planet Rock. It's really awesome Well I guess recording is purely legal. We've been doing this recording stuff for years. I used to record songs off radio channels on good old cassettes [the one with the magnetic tapes wrapped around those round round wheels ]. Many of my friends used to do so when the CD and the mp3 wasn't invented. So it's purely legal to record songs from radio and store them anywhere. The radio channels also know this thing I suppose, so do the music companies. They can't be so dumb

Well, I guess Windows Media Player is good, too, but I do not like it too much so I use Winamp. It can easily be minimized in the background as well as its icon in the tray and since I use Firefox for Internet browsing, there is a plugin called FoxyTunes so I can control Winamp from the FF status bar easily (it can control other media players, too, of course). Now as I am looking at it, it seems to work with IE, too (and Yahoo Messenger but of course I do not use that):
http://www.foxytunes.com/You're using Firfox for browsing? I thought tech - savvy people almost stopped using firefox when Chrome was released. I guess it's much lighter and faster. Extensions are available for this browser in abundance. But I'm disappointed to hear that FoxyTunes is not available for Chrome.
Btw, you're using Winampe Free or a Pro Version. And how can I listen to radio in Windows Media Player. ? I thought that you can only listen to music or watch videos that are in a portable media device or your hard drive.
Thanks everyone at SCF for answering my query. I didn't expect such a quick reply here on a forum for a SketchUp. I asked the same question on Internet Radio Forum before posting here . Guess what ??, I'm still awaiting reply.

Well, no-one said I was "tech-savvy"
And yes, there are extensions/plugins for Chrome, too, but I have gotten used to some in FF too much to abandon it right now.
I have Chrome, too, however. And IE, Opera, Safari... You need all to test websites (and cross-browser compatibility)

your answers show that you're tech savvy. Sometimes there's no need to say things which are obvious. Besides, you're the admin of this forum. Admins are always tech-savvy I guess
P.S. please answer all the questions that I asked.

Well, Winamp free and I do not use Win Media player for this but just tried and dragged/dropped my mu3 link into its interface and it started to play.
(And being an admin is rather handling people than being tech savvy actually)

well, the people at SCF must have seen some great thing in you. There's only one admin I guess. You're the chosen one Neo
and yeah. can you please attach the m3u files here of the radio stations that you listen to ?? Thanks

Well, one I sometimes listen to is a classical music channel in Hungary. I have no idea how to really extract the full URL of the channel as it seems to be driven in Flash on the site here:
http://www.mr3-bartok.hu/There is an "รlล adรกs" (Live Broadcast) link in blue there. Right click and save as a Winamp file (that's how I do it).
And of course, if you look at the administrators link at the bottom of the index page, you will se that Coen and Tavi are also admins.
Coen is not active ATM but Tavi is the real "technical" person here. I am just here to ban spammers.

Another WinAmp vote here as well. Currently streaming SomaFm's Groove Salad.

I can't run it . Radiosure.exe contains a variant of Win32/Packed.Enigma.ACO trojan. I'm using ESET Smart security.

Hi rock1, this is strange, I never had virus alert with this software. Maybe you should contact them about that...I'll see if i can find info...
